Orinda is serviced by two school districts. The Acalanes Union High School District runs the local High School, Miramonte. The Orinda Union School District runs the town's elementary and middle school programs.
The 2010 Academic Performance Index (API) has been released by the California Department of Education. Although one means of assessment could never be the sole determinant of a school district's success, the new data is an affirmation of the Acalanes Union High School District's commitment to continuous progress. The AUHSD API rose two points to a composite 899 performance level.
While there are several areas for growth on which the District will continue to seek improvement, the results are exceptionally gratifying. Considering the many challenges faced during the 2009-2010 school year, the 2010 API results are impressive.
The Acalanes Union High School District remains the highest performing high school district in California.
